Best National University Rankings 2024 by U.S. News & World Report.
A national university is mainly a university created or managed by a government, but it may also at the same time operate autonomously without direct control by the state.
Some national universities are associated with national cultural or political aspirations. For example, the National University of Ireland during the early days of Irish independence collected a large amount of information about the Irish language and Irish culture. In Argentina, the national universities are the result of the 1918 Argentine university reform and subsequent reforms, which were intended to provide a secular university system without direct clerical or government influence by bestowing self-government on the institutions.
National University Rankings 2024
In the world of selective college admissions, U.S. News & World Report has announced its 2024 college rankings, a widely anticipated and dreaded yearly event. Notable shifts in the rankings include the University of Chicago’s move from No. 6 to No. 12, and Dartmouth College’s decline from No. 12 to No. 18. The University of Texas at San Antonio rose 92 ranks on the list, while other public colleges saw their three campuses rise by at least 15 spots each. One such university is Rutgers.
Not long after the rankings were announced, an educator from the National Association for College Admission Counseling revealed that she had received calls from parents who were particularly worried about New York University’s sharp decline in the U.S. News rankings this year, which saw it go from No. 25 to No. 35. Some of these parents were current clients whose children were prospective candidates to NYU this year, and some were previous clients of the educator whose children were still enrolled in the school and were unsure if they should think about transferring.
A study by the education consulting firm Art and Science Group found that 51% of students and 55% of college-bound high school seniors agreed that “rankings are very important to my parents,” as well as that “rankings are very important to me.” Even though there are other yearly lists of colleges, parents and students alike pay close attention to U.S. News’ rankings; in fact, 22% of respondents to the Art and Science Group poll said they engaged with the product.
