Financial Aid for International Students at University of Queensland

Pursuing higher education in Australia offers unparalleled academic and cultural experiences but often comes with a hefty price tag. To support international students and encourage studies in regional areas, the Australian Government provides the Destination Australia Scholarship, an initiative aligned with the National Strategy for International Education 2025.

This scholarship, funded by the Department of Education, aims to attract students to regional institutions, bolster the growth of regional universities and colleges, and offer a high-quality educational experience. Applications for Semester One 2025 are open online until noon on January 20, 2025.

Eligibility criteria

1. Be international students with a valid student visa for the scholarship duration.
2. University of Queensland (UQ) graduates starting a new programme, such as a Master’s degree following a Bachelor’s.
3. Hold a full offer for an eligible programme at the UQ Gatton campus in 2025. (Acceptance of the offer by the scholarship deadline is not mandatory.)

Scholarship details

The University of Queensland will award the scholarship in instalments of AUD 7,500 (approximately Rs.4,00,000) per semester. The first disbursement will be made after the academic census date of the initial semester or research quarter, provided the student meets all eligibility requirements. The second instalment will follow within six months of the first, contingent on satisfactory academic progress and continued compliance with the scholarship obligations.
